Fashion 2009
The see-through fashion trends continued to grow this year. The slogan “keep cool and sexy” is our slogan and we like it. We also like vogue for the latest news, and show information.
2009 was full of fun (and frightening) fashion trends. The biggest overriding influence has been the continuation of influences from the 1980s and 90s, with new colors and silhouettes making their way into the headlines.
Jumpsuits were Back!
Celebs like Cameron Diaz rocked the black-jumpsuit look during appearances on shows like Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, giving fodder to the great pirates-vs-ninja debate with these visual shout-outs to the ancient Japanese martial artists.
Colours So BRIGHT they were Blinding!
As the fashion world moved into a cool fall, neon colors the likes of which haven't been seen since the heyday of rave culture made it back into the vernacular. Bright, barbie-pinks and flashy yellows or greens became a frequent sight as one walked down most major streets, and a rich purple became known as fall's trademark as the year drew to a close.
Quality over Quantity
Thanks to the recession, the biggest trend of 2009 has been a decrease in consumer spending on low-quality items. This has been great for the fashion world, enabling designers to create pieces at price points that afford them higher craftsmanship in the manufacturing process.
Fashion into 2010
Looking ahead to 2010 it's likely that the trend toward the early 90s will continue, at least for a few months' time, with grunge fashion making a real comeback. Plaid has already been popular for the last few years, and as the eddies of fashion swirl around to make for a richer pool from which to select inspirations, this is one trend that's almost guaranteed to grow.
Every year spring and summer fashion tends seem to get a little more naughty, you can blame the warm weather or the desire to show off and show the world not just the sexy clothes but how fit you are too.
Tommy Hillfiger returned to the NY Fashion week show at Bryant Park for the first time in three years. This news comes as Vera Wang and Betsey Johnson decided that they would stay at home this year.
Christian Dior creative director John Galliano is to receive the French Legion of Honor, congratulations to him, keep up the good work.
A cat walk and model legend Helena Christensen is now reported to be behind the camera and shooting the pictures at the Faconnable catwalk in Paris this year. The supermodel has graced the cover of vogue on several times.

The British Fashion Council was 25 years old in 2009. Daisy de Villeneuve to celebrate has created a range of fashion iconic drawings to be sported on T-shirts, mugs and a special edition travel card wallet (don’t all rush for that one!).
The 25 year celebration focus’s on London and feature characters from Kings Cross, Brixton, Ladbroke Grove, Tottenham, and South Kensington all the glamorous and fashionable area’s of London. Could they have done more, the jury is out.
