Knicker Care

If you love pretty, expensive lingerie, you’ll want to keep it looking and feeling nice for as long as possible. Worn knickers should always be taken great care of, especially when washing and drying.

Separate colours before you wash dirty knickers. Whites should all be washed together, then medium and dark colours. Very dark dirty knickers should be washed separately at first, and possibly even handwashed. Check the instructions on the label.

You should also separate the types of fabric if possible, washing satins on an appropriate setting and then washing cottons separately. For soiled knickers, wash on the highest temperature allowed according to the instructions. Consider a specialist stain remover for your soiled knickers, or simply replacing them.

Don’t wash used knickers with towels or fleeces in the same wash, as the lint from these items will stick to the knickers and will be difficult to remove. Don’t overload your washing machine, as the knickers will need room to move about inside the drum to clean properly.

Dry wet knickers on a washing line rather than in a tumble dryer. Shake any excess water off before you hang them, and don’t use too many pegs as these may leave a crease or mark. If you must use a tumble dryer, use a low heat setting, especially on nylon, acrylic and polyester knickers.

Everyone knows that knickers are also called Panties around the world.
