Short Colours
Once you’ve chosen the style and material, what about the colour of your shorts? What does your chosen colour say about you, and will it suit you? It’s often said that “style never goes out of fashion”, so if you find the right pair of shorts you can wear them for years and years.
Red Shorts
Red is seen as a passionate and vibrant colour, and is possibly suited to more exuberant personalities. If this sounds like you, a pair of red shorts could be just what you’re after. Dark skin tones suit all but the brightest shades of red. If you have paler skin, try to avoid orangey tones.
Yellow Shorts
Yellow shorts must be the ultimate summer clothing: bright yellow certainly tells you that summer is here. A pair of yellow shorts will suit you if your skin tans easily, but will make you look paler if it doesn’t. In terms of personality, yellow will suit you if you’re bright, optimistic, cheery and always have a smile on your face. Avoid fluorescent shades and keep it natural: a nice mustard tone will suit most tanned bodies.
Pink Shorts
Once the domain of women and girls only, pink is now creeping slowly into men’s wardrobes but it could be a while before a straight man can get away with wearing baby pink hot pants! For men, darker, more reddish tones of pink can look gorgeous on anyone’s legs, whether you’re dark or pale-skinned. But make sure you slap on the sun cream – burned skin will clash horribly with pink shorts!
Black Shorts
Black shorts can be a difficult area: they look smarter than coloured shorts, but does this make the wearer look like a schoolboy? We think it’s probably best to avoid plain grey and black shorts for this reason, but a grey and black pattern can look classy and stylish.
